Know more About CUET

What is CUET?

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an all-India entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different central and state universities in India including Delhi University, JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, BHU, and Allahabad University among others.

How do I prepare for CUET?

In order to prepare for CUET it is important to understand the exam pattern. The exam is conducted in three parts. The three sections involve the language test, domain specific test and general test. CUET exam will test you on your ability to apply basic knowledge that you have learnt throughout your high school years. You must know how to apply concepts accurately.

What will be asked in the language test in CUET 2026?

The language test will test your skills in English grammar, reading comprehension, literary aptitude and vocabulary. For this section you should first focus on building concepts of grammar and then start practicing them through worksheets, quizzes and mock tests.

What will be asked in the domain test in CUET 2026?

The domain specific tests will require you to complete reading the NCERT books of class 11th and 12th. You must be clear on the topics that have been discussed and then work on case-study based questions to further test your knowledge of concepts. After that you can pick questionnaires, mock tests and topic-specific tests to prepare yourself for the real exam.

What will be asked in the general test in CUET 2026?

The general test will include questions from Current affairs and static GK along with some questions of LR and basic Math. For these sub-sections of General Test, you can begin with making it a regular habit to read current affairs and at least one topic of static GK every day. You could first work on understanding the basics and concepts of LR and QA, then start practicing worksheets on every alternative day of the week. Both these sections require a lot of practice.
Overall, Mock Tests are the way to go. Practice as many mocks as you can and make sure to analyse your performance after each one. Recognise your strengths and weaknesses and tweak your preparation strategy accordingly.

How do I choose my domain subjects?

Any candidate appearing for CUET can take a maximum of 09 tests.
They can be chosen in the following manner: -
Combination 1: A maximum of 02 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, a maximum of 06 Domain Subjects from Section II, and General tests from Section III.

OR

Combination 2: A Maximum number of 03 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, a maximum number of 05 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section I.

There are a total of 27 domain subjects which you can choose from. For Delhi University, many courses require eligibility criteria of a language from IA and IB + any two domain subjects + General test. In such cases, you can choose the two domain subjects which are relevant to your course and are your strong subjects.

What is the eligibility criteria to give CUET?

Candidates who have passed 10+2 or 10+3 diploma approved by a state or national board with a minimum of 50% aggregate are eligible for CUET. Candidates now have the liberty to choose the domain subjects they wish to major in irrespective of the subjects they chose in class 10+2. Domain subjects must be chosen after cross-referring the course requirements of the university in which you wish to seek admission.

Is CUET conducted in languages other than English?

Yes, CUET tests (other than Language Test) are offered in 13 languages – Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

CUET is accepted by central universities for UG and PG admissions. The exam will be conducted in two shifts:

Shift 1 – Language paper will be conducted.

Shift 2 – General Aptitude and Domain subject sections will be conducted.

What are some good study materials for the CUET 2026?

Foremost, you need to understand your level of preparation and then look into the material which suits your requirements. Whenever you look for a study material in market always check – are there mock tests available in that?
Check for previous year question papers, if any. See if the pattern of question follows the latest updates. Make sure the material is same as your level of preparation – for example, if you are just two weeks away from exam then reading editorials for VA and Vocabulary would not be advisable, focus on doing worksheets instead.
We would recommend you to check PRATHAM TEST PREP website. They offer you carefully curated specific exam-oriented material which is prepared to help their students stay on the top of all results. Their experienced faculty and counsellors can help you turn your hard-work into smart-work and save your time and effort with updated Knowledge Primers, class assignments, online video-lectures, in-person classes and mock tests as per latest pattern.

What strategy should I follow for the CUET UG 2026 preparation?

In order to prepare for CUET, choose your domain subjects first. Although General Aptitude and Language test are common for all exams, domain subjects play an important role in helping you get the course and college you want. Work smart not hard. Have an in-depth knowledge of the syllabus before you start preparing and create a study plan.

How do I prepare for the CUET English section? What study material should I refer to?

To prepare for CUET go through the exam pattern, study the syllabus and create a study plan personalized for you. Understand the concepts and then put them to practice. The language test will mainly comprise of questions from Reading Comprehension, Grammar and Vocabulary.
Now, vocabulary section is where students struggle the most so here are some tips for that-
One, develop a reading habit. It will never fail you. It is important to learn the context in which particular words should be used rather than just memorizing new words. Mnemonics are also a great way of learning new words. Questions will be asked in synonyms, antonyms, analogies and fill in the blanks with best word format.
Now, grammar section – Generally Fill the blanks/Spot the error/ Error correction type of questions come. They can be asked from parts of speech, tenses, voices and narrations. For this, make sure your basic concepts are clear then practice as many worksheets as you can.
Finally, for reading comprehension I always suggest students to use the skim and scan approach. Not only does it save time but most of the questions can be answered by identifying the main idea and tone of the passage

Can I opt for a different university other than what I have selected in the CUET?

No, you will be eligible only for the universities you have applied in/ filled in your CUET form. If you still have the option to access form correction window, please watch this video https://youtu.be/uD_n2t8jGCI.

Do the marks of class 12 affect the result of the CUET?

No, your class 12 marks are different from CUET. You just need to have a minimum of 50 % aggregate to be eligible for CUET and have the subjects, if any required for the course that you wish to take. Other than that only your CUET score matters.
What you study in school and how you are tested on that knowledge are vastly different from how entrance exams test you. Even if you didn’t score the best in your board exams you can do very well in CUET given that you prepare well and work hard.

How will the merit list of the CUET be prepared?

Central Universities this year will prepare the merit list on the basis of CUET score obtained by the candidates from the given subject combinations of a required course. Appropriate proration will be done because the weightage of all CUET sections is not the same.

Should I join coaching for the CUET 2026?

Some students crack entrance exams without coaching whereas some need coaching. The difference comes in consistency and quality of your preparation. Having the right material and right direction is of utmost importance.
This is where the coaching classes help you out and save your time. With experienced faculty you can begin with your existing level of preparation and not start anew.
